Ride Day Links

Are you up for it? 🙂

This update is going to our 1,800 pre-registered riders and to the thousands of cyclists out there who love a challenge. Sunday’s MN Ironman welcomes your ride-day registration.

Over the years, with no control over the weather, the Ironman Crew spends months preparing for each of the annual events to make them a reality. Sadly this year the weather forecasts we are seeing do not come with dry/warm skies, like we had last weekend. Like you, we’ve been waiting all week for the weather folks to change their opinion for this Sunday, but they have not!

So, as the 51st Ironman Sunday approaches, the ride will bring us springtime elements of cold, wind and rain. Well signed and supported routes of the 25, 45, 55, or 100 miles are ready.

If you are up for the challenge, here are a few ideas to help you prepare to ride with us, as we move to Waconia and Carver County. Join us!

Helpful Hints To Make This Year’s Ironman Memorable

The following hints will help make riding this Sunday more comfortable and regardless the distance guarantee you #BraggingRightsGuaranteed!

  • Please dress for cold and wet weather. (see clothes for bike comfort-ability in fluctuating Temps)
  • Stop at our indoor, warm rest stops along the routes.
  • Warm up and regroup.
  • Consider shortening your ride to deal with the weather.
  • Cut it short if you need too – no one will care! (School buses will be at the rest stops to sag you back to the ride start if you need it.)

Rider Number Look Up / Merchandise Pick-Up

Find a Rider Number Look Up on our website.  You can also find your number in the morning at Waconia High School.  Register inside the school and return there to pick up your pre-ordered merchandise.  We will be selling Ironman gear and taking orders for the 2017 Ironman jersey there as well.  Even if you decide not to ride, stop by the school to get your Ironman items.

Safety Message

Please remember to share the roads with motorists and obey all state laws.  Stop at stop signs, stay to the right as far as possible. Be aware of other riders as most accidents occur with other bikes.  Police and Sheriff crews will be monitoring busy intersections for everyone’s safety.

Community Message:

“You only get one chance to make a great first impression.”

We are new to Waconia and the Carver County communities. The routes are terrific and we want to be invited back.  Events like this are under a microscope and getting harder to be approved.  So help us by riding responsibly and enjoy the day and the adventure.

Look carefully at the parking map.  We have multiple options and likely you can park close to the school due to our expected turn out.

Waconia Welcomes You

You’re receiving a coupon page from Waconia business’s offering discounts and deals on Sunday.  Print and bring with you on Sunday, if you wish.  The Waconia brewery will be serving Root Beer Floats at the High School and a Buck off a pint back at the brewery.

Peace Coffee

The ride is serving Peace Coffee at the High School and at all our rest stops throughout the day.

Best Mechanics in Minnesota

Meet the owners and staff from many great bike shops throughout the day.  Staff from all our sponsoring shops will be around the High School or at the rest stops along the routes.  Tune up your bike before you hit the road.

Final Note

Thank you for riding with us.  We have five decades of history producing this ride.  Weather is our nemesis but great stories from thousands of riders gives life to this grand event.  You honor us by riding and we hope 2017 brings you a memorable, positive experience. Remember – Gortex Rules!
